Cold Winter Months Bring Hot New Changes to Old Salem Farm

North Salem, NY – January 19, 2010– Following the onset of yet another cold and snowy winter, there are some new changes that are really heating things up at Old Salem Farm in North Salem, NY. The additions of a new trainer and a third (yes, third!) indoor arena are making Old Salem Farm quite a hot commodity during these cold winter months.

Old Salem Farm is pleased to announce that Tammy Heumann will be joining its staff as the Farm’s newest trainer beginning in February. Heumann will be working closely with Old Salem Farm’s Head Trainer, Brian Walker, to help maintain the highest quality riding instruction, for which the farm is famous.

Heumann has ridden and worked with many of the country’s leading trainers including Ronnie Mutch, Hugh “Bert” Mutch, Anne Kursinski, and Debbie Stephens. Before owning her own NOLA Farms, she worked for Flournoy Farms in Columbus, GA, and Peter Leone’s Lionshare Farm in Greenwich, CT, and has traveled to many of the nation’s top horse shows, including the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL, the Devon Horse Show, the Hampton Classic, the Lake Placid Horse Shows, and HITS.

“I am thrilled to be making my home base at Old Salem Farm,” said Heumann. “Old Salem Farm is a horseman’s dream farm with the great footing, clean and beautiful barns, and great turnout. It is the perfect environment for training horses and students for whatever goals they wish to achieve.”

Heumann will remain at the Farm to teach students throughout the year, enabling Old Salem Farm to offer instruction to those clients who choose not to travel with Walker to horse shows around the country.

“The beauty in having Tammy join our staff is that we can now offer top-notch training all year long,” said Old Salem Farm President Scott Hakim. “Tammy has a wonderful background in the hunter-jumper world, and we are really looking forward to having her here.”

In support of being able to offer riding instruction throughout the year, Old Salem Farm has transitioned its existing pole barn into a third indoor arena. This arena will be for use only by Old Salem Farm clients, and will provide an indoor for their usage during the Farm’s extensive horse show season. The new arena will feature the same top-notch footing as the Farm’s other two indoors.

“We really felt a need to offer our clients an indoor arena that is for their use only,” said Hakim. “By creating this third indoor arena we are allowing our clients access to an indoor at all times. No matter what is going on at Old Salem Farm, whether it be a horse show or clinic, our clients never have to worry about having a place to ride.”

Old Salem Farm is located one hour north of New York City. In addition to its year-long horse show series that includes more than 20 horse shows in addition to its flagship spring horse shows, it maintains state-of-the-art stabling facilities for year-round boarding. Old Salem Farm’s training staff offers training for every level of riding from Short Stirrup to Grand Prix hopefuls! Exceptional horses are also available for sale or lease.
