North Salem, NY – May 15, 2010 – As You Wish gave owner/rider Maddie Fisher everything she wished for at the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows. The 7 year-old bay gelding cruised around the ring in the Amateur Owner Hunter 18-35 division with ease and style to capture the Championship and Grand Championship titles.
Mike Henaghan, who joined forces in August with Olympic Silver Medalist Peter Leone at Lionshare Farm in Greenwich, CT, is very pleased and proud of Fisher and her mount. “They are a relatively new partnership both with each other and with Lionshare, but the results are astounding. They were Amateur Owner Champion at Fairfield and now Grand Champion here. Both horse and rider are extremely talented and the program we have put in place for them is right on track.”
Arabella and Becky Gochman earned the Championship title in the Amateur Owner Hunter 36+ division. The flashy chestnut mare was on track all week; as she was named Reserve Champion in the Second Year Green Division and then went on to win top ribbons in the hotly contested Amateur Owner division.
Sydney Shulman, Greenwich, CT, and Justice League, owned by Back Country Farm, blazed through the timers to win the $2,500 Marshall & Sterling Child Jumper Classic presented by Practical Horseman Magazine. Nine riders including Shulman managed to navigate the first round without penalty to advance to the times jump-off. Shulman, a seasoned veteran at 15 years of age, showed the composure that won her the 2009 Pony Jumper Final Gold Medal, as she piloted Justice League around the jump-off course fault free in a time of 33.990 seconds.
The $2500 Marshall & Sterling Amateur Adult Jumper Classic presented by Horse Directory was also contested over the pacious Grand Prix field and Samantha Wise of Princeton, NJ, sent Tanzanite, her 10 year-old bay mare around the course for two fault free rounds and a winning time of 30.095 seconds.
