Goldika 559 And McLain Ward Stop The Competition In Their Tracks At The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows

North Salem, NY – May 20, 2010 - Two time Olympic Gold Medalist McLain Ward, fresh off the plane from his wins with the US Team in La Baule, France, brought Goldika 559 to the ring at the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows and she showed the crowd just how much she likes to run and jump.  At an amazing 18 years of age, Goldika still enters the ring with fire, letting everyone know how much she wants to win.

Ward, who hails from Brewster, NY, just a few miles down the road, is always a contender when he enters the ring, but with Goldika there is the knowledge that if she has left the jumps up, her time around the course will be amazingly fast.  She again proved this to be fact as she completed the jump-off course clean in a time of 29.992 seconds.

"She makes history, not me," Ward has said of the mare. "I'm very lucky to have great horses and she's been a long-time partner. I keep thinking maybe it's time to retire her and then she comes to shows and keeps doing this, so she must still enjoy it.”

Jeffery Welles riding Tango for owner Abigail Wexner, is also a very speedy combination, with numerous placings to their credit.  They walked away with second place after two clear rounds in a time of 30.113.  Georgina Bloomberg with Gotham Enterprizes’ Midtown Du Tillard placed third, double clear in 31.060 seconds.

The 2010 Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows will feature the $75,000 Empire State Grand Prix, $25,000 North Salem Grand Prix, as well as a $15,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic part of the Cavalor Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series, $5,000 Devoucoux Hunter Derby, $10,000 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA International Hunter Derby Presented by The Premier Collection/Land Rover of Mt.
